The Schedules are out...

Thoughts of summer are afoot with the announcement that the horticultural schedules are available for the 2013 Dorset County Show on being held on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th September.

The horticultural committee and show secretary have completed the schedule for entries in the Horticultural Marque and Floral Pavilion.

Entries are being invited for the many classes of ornamental plants, floral displays and edible produce. With over 100 classes to choose from there should be something for everyone.  Once again in this year’s show there are classes that novice gardeners and exhibitors are being encouraged to enter with opportunities for all ages to have a go.  Everyone is welcome to enter these amateur gardener classes with children’s entries for the many fun sections being warmly welcomed.

Entries and applications for trade stands and displays in the Garden and floral Pavilion and the outdoor Plant Avenue are now being taken. With the Dorset County show now the only major horticultural show that weekend in the South West, this is the place to be seen for selling gardening related products, plants and services.

The Dorset County Show is held on the Dorchester Showground just to the north of Dorchester and offers a great opportunity to visit a ‘traditional’ country show with something for all the family.

For more details about entering the horticultural classes and obtaining a schedule and entry forms,  go to the show website: www.dorsetcountyshow.co.uk. There are great pictures and reports from last year’s event showing what went on to make it a record breaking couple of days. The 2013 show hopes to be even better, especially if more than the six hundred horticultural entries in 2012 is achieved.

For anyone unsure about entering a garden show for the first time see my recent article ‘Prepare To Put On A Show’ for some encouragement.
